World Vitiligo Day celebrations took place in various districts on 25th June 2024.
As part of these celebrations, a live vitiligo surgery workshop was conducted by the Department of Dermatology at BMCRI.
In Chitradurga, events were observed on the OPD premises of Basaveshwara Medical College Hospital.
On this occasion, we united to raise awareness and celebrate the strength of those living with vitiligo at JJM Medical College in Davangere.
At DVL MRMC in Kalaburagi, patients were screened and counseled, and free medications were distributed to those with vitiligo.
The Department of Dermatology at SDM College in Dharwad held a poster competition on the theme for 2024, 'Treating Skin and Healing Minds,' to raise awareness.
In Gadag, the Department of Dermatology at GIMS, in association with the Gadag Dermatologist Association, conducted an awareness talk and offered treatment options provided by the department's staff.
The Department of Skin and STD at KMCRI Hubballi organized an awareness program focusing on the social stigma associated with vitiligo.
The Department of DVL, SSMC, Tumkur, in association with the Tumkur Dermatologist Society, conducted World Vitiligo Day on 27/06/2024. The event included a prize distribution for essay writing and poster competitions for students. Siddharth FM Radio re-telecasted vitiligo public awareness segments. Vitiligo patients shared their views and expressed appreciation for the treating doctors at SSMC, Tumkur.
Vitiligo Day was observed at SSIMS, Davangere, featuring educational posters, health talks, a skit by postgraduate students, and an article published in a Kannada daily.
The World Vitiligo Day, observed on June 25, is an initiative aimed to build global awareness about vitiligo. Ramaiah Medical College celebrated this day on 25th June and 27th June 2024 at Ramaiah Medical College Hospital and Medical College with the theme: “Boots on the Ground: Finding Your Pathway”
Raja Rajeswari Medical College and Hospitals, Bengaluru, observed World Vitiligo Day with skits, a poster competition, a UG quiz, and a state-level CME on vitiligo management. Competition winners were felicitated, and the department pledged to provide psychological support and medical care.

On June 28th, 2024, The Oxford Medical College Hospital's Dermatology Department hosted a Vitiligo Day event with a lecture by Dr. Harish Prasad on "Vitiligo Surgery Tips & Tricks," covering surgical techniques, patient selection, and case studies. The event included a Q&A session and concluded with a vote of thanks, inspiring improved vitiligo treatment methods.
