President's Message

Dr Manjunath Hulmani

Dear Esteemed Members, Colleagues, and Friends,

It is my great honor to serve as the President of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists (IADVL) Karnataka. As a body of dedicated professionals, we are committed to advancing the field of dermatology through collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Our mission is not only to enhance the practice of dermatology but also to make significant contributions to the overall health and well-being of our communities.

In Karnataka, we are proud of the progress we have made in fostering an environment of knowledge-sharing, professional development, and community outreach. Our state chapter has consistently worked towards providing world-class education, facilitating workshops, seminars, and training sessions for our members. Through these efforts, we strive to keep abreast of the latest advancements in dermatological science and clinical practice, ensuring that our members are equipped with the skills and knowledge to offer the best care to their patients.

As we continue to navigate the challenges of a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, the importance of unity, collaboration, and continuous research cannot be overstated. Our association is dedicated to creating platforms where experts and young professionals alike can come together to share their experiences, insights, and innovations. We also remain focused on advocating for dermatology as a vital field of medicine and ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care.

The IADVL-KN is expanding in all directions. I would like to enhance the visibility and reputation of our association while staying true to our core values for the community.

For the year 2024-2025, apart from the number of educational programs planned throughout the year, my team wishes to take up anti quackery activities prominently.

I hereby would like to enlist my priorities for the year:

  1. SKINATHON : Run against quackery happening in the field of Dermatology, cosmetology and hair transplantation. To create the public awareness about skin health.
  2. QUIZZATHON: It’s a monthly online quiz program for the residents of all the medical colleges across Karnataka. This will help them to better prepared for the national level IADVL quiz.
  3. SYNERGY : It will be a skill development program to learn about best uses of Artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical research and diagnosis.
  4. Make use of social media to create awareness among skin health among general public. To curb topical steroid abuse.
  5. To go war foot against quackery and to hire a legal adviser
  6. PLM enrolment and PLM to LM conversions
  7. E-Voting enrolment
  8. DVL Welfare Trust membership drive
  9. PG teaching – Derma Basics, Derma Advance
  10. RESIMED and YATHARTHA programs
  11. Community Dermatology activities: CHALO PATHASHALA /ARIVU program which aims to educate students in high schools, residential schools and colleges.

A tsunami of quackery has creeped into our speciality. I urge our own members from refraining to train and empower the so called Cosmetologists. We should uphold the dignity of our profession, specially for the younger generations of Dermatologists, and we need to practice ethically and responsibly, along with empathy towards our patients.

I also request members who routinely take part in various health checkup camps/ awareness campaigns along with organizations such as the IMA, Rotary, Lions Club, Red Cross, etc, to use the banner IADVL (with prior intimation and through proper channel) in order to facilitate a better recognition of IADVL among our peers as well.

I humbly invite you all to join us for CUTICON KN 2025, Gulbarga and Mid CUTICON KN 2025.

Finally, I whole heartedly welcome and encourage my fellows members to kindly reach out to me to share their ideas which would be helpful for the betterment of our beloved association.

I am sure with the able, efficient, and enthusiastic team, with the strong support from all past presidents, and with the experience and enthusiasm of Chairpersons and Conveners of IADVL Academy and all committees, the current EC will take IADVL KN to greater height. I humbly seek your cooperation and support for the same.

I encourage all our members to actively participate in the activities of the association, as we continue our work to make dermatology in Karnataka not just a profession, but a calling that brings about positive change in the lives of the people we serve.

Together, we can continue to elevate our field, uphold the highest standards of care, and ensure that dermatology remains at the forefront of medical practice in Karnataka.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to excellence.

Thank you all once again.

Long live IADVL!
Warm regards,
Dr Manjunath Hulmani
President, IADVL Karnataka
